Gameplay is much the same but the bots are harder to predict. The maps are larger and more complex. The extras like call-ins and drivable vehicles are good but don't over dominate. If you don't work as a team you get slaughtered, public servers are hard going for this. Numptys team killing, running off into areas you have told them about the artillery you have called in. Getting pissed off because they were killed by the devastating explosives. When people talk, give orders and follow them it's much better.
This game is very intense and after playing for a couple of hours I needed to take a break. It was great fun but there were more than a few oh shit moment. (Good thing I was wearing my brown pants). Any game that can elicit genuine emotions you know it's a good game.
Performance, oh dear god that need to work on performance. I know my graphics card is getting a little old now but it is a 980Ti. This game sucks balls on anything over medium settings. At which point it looks more ugly than the old one. It's hard to see any of the gameplay changes that couldn't have been achieved with the old engine. Those gameplay changes make for a much better game but damn get your settings wrong and it will feel like molasses.
Fingers crossed they will get the performance sorted with optimisation. This really is a beta test and not marketing like many other games that let you play a bit just before the game is released.

I agree, they should never have released it in such a broken state. Too many long engagements where you can't see the person shooting you. Too many points where you can be seen from an angle where you have no ability to respond. It's laggy, looks terrible. There is no way it should be running this badly on the hardware we have. It needs so much work on it I doubt they can get it fixed in the few weeks they have before release. In six months maybe but in a month?!?
I was so hopeful that this would be something we would want to play. A game that could be a serious alternative to the big games like CoD and Battlefield. I'm at a bit of a loss to suggest what to do now. It's looking like Insurgency Sandstorm will not be a good enough game till much later at which point the bulk of gamers will have moved on to something else. The player base won't be there even if it's a great game in a years time. It has Steam sale written all over it.

I'm seriously disappointed with last nights outing I was hoping this was a game that bring us all together onto the same game but I think the Alpha ran better than this I really don't know how they have cocked it up so badly after being on the sandstorm forum there are many actually requesting a refund as this isn't even ready for release in any way, I agree Pen with the machines we have this game should run like the wind without any issues.
Also after being on the forum there has also been an announcement that the guy who has been driving the release has quit and moving on (Hmmm did he jump before he was pushed ?) this has damaged any respect this game had from the initial Insurgency 2014.
Again from the forum most users have been experiencing between 30-60fps even with top of the range machines and quality bandwidth all on low settings.
Plus Points?
As a big fan of Insurgency I'm finding it very difficult to find any plus points
Unless they sort out the optimization etc prior to the next beta and release there will be permanent damage to this game.
