American forces are stationed to protect americans working on Skira (oil and gas companies). Without a warning the chinese army invades the island and forces the US Army to retreat. Russia is requesting american support and the USA sends the USS Iwo Jima to the conflict region. The first part of the campaign will be settled during the chinese invasion, whereas you will be part of the American intervention force in the second part. Facts : - 220 km² island called Skira (based on a real island) - 30 Air and ground Vehicles (Ah-1Z, M1A1, M2A3) - 70 weapons (FGM-148, M 107, Mk 16 Mod 0, Mk 48 Mod 0) - Dynamic Building Destruction (Buildings do have several desctruction phases) - destructible trees - dynamic weather effects - mud effects (comparison --> Race Driver Grid). - weapons won't stay shiny all the time... they will get scratches and get dirty while beeing used - no dynamic campaign - easy command system with commander overview - AI uses real military tactics - Some weapons have to be assembled before it can be used (f.e. the Javelin) - Gore Limb Dismemberment will be included

Often it's the hands that really show. I'm sure it's why so many games, the characters have gloves on. In some of the pictures the hands look decidedly dodgy.
In the past big map games don't do close up stuff very well. The models in BF:2 look good enough, they move in the most strange way. They were much the same in Joint Operations. The models were good but the animation was crap. Lets hope that this game works better...

There's one big flaw with the big map games in that it takes ages to get into a fight if you spawn at a location where there's no vehichles left because they've all been taken or just being taken by some fool that just don't wanna give you a ride. having said that sometimes its better if you don't take a ride as jumping in a copter with a pilot you don't know can and has in the past lead to me dying before I even get across the water (bf2 speaking of coz) Never the less the more good fps games the better

There is something about the big map game. The extra dimension of the size of the maps. Is it a driving game, a tank game, a flying game or is it a good old fashioned shooter??? well it's all of them! Heck play as Commander and your playing an RTS.
When we started playing BF:2 we had an advantage. We had come from playing Joint Ops. BF:2 maps are sooooo very small compared to Joint Ops. We would often play on the custom Coop maps. It wasn't uncommon to have to yomp 5 clicks or more to your first waypoint. Each objective could be 5 to 10 Kilometers apart, you didn't always get transport!

JO was ace for that, and the depth of play was pretty impressive, I think BF may have stolen one or 2 ideas from JO
I loved the fact you could drive vehicles into the back of a chinook chopper, cram it chock full of stuff and take those vehicles elsewhere on the map
only problem was if the chopper got shot down, it started raining tanks and motorcycles! which it invariably did sometimes
the game was glitchy in places, but a hoot all the same, so when BF came along the maps were a little more cosy, so in comparison CoD is bl00dy Claustrophobic
