The name nvidia comes up when games load because nvidia have payed for it LOL I'm currently running a BFG 8800GTS 512 OC, the reason is because BFG sent it to me as a free replacement for my 7900GT OC. BFG have a fantastic iron clad warranty. The 7900 had known issues, when my card Finlay died I sent it back. A shinny new 8800GTS turned up in the post This was about 6 months ago. I have no particular favorite between nvidia or ATI whoever is making the best card I can afford at the time I have the cash. I have an Intel CPU at he mo, the first time I have used Intel in years. The last Intel was a 486 DX 100MHz LOL But even a die hard AMD fanboy like me can not ignore the shortfall of AMD's performance in resent years...

My XFX GTX280 XXX arrived earlier today Its now installed and configured - colour calibration on my monitor went out so had to redo that pretty easy with a spyder. I've fired up a couple of my games must say I cant see any difference in COD4 but other more demanding games like Frontlines Fuel of War and Supreme Commander etc all now default to the highest settings without me having to manually set them in the options. I've also installed Assasins Creed which came with it I'll let you know what thats like compared to the 360 version when I have time to play it for a bit. An original copy of Crysis should be here tomorrow so I'll install that as I'm sure I'll be able to tell the difference with that game compared to what it was like on my old Ultra XXX.

My old card was very good if i'd not changed to a 24" monitor I probably would have waited another year or so. But I did change and the bigger the screen the more power under the hood you need. Although everything I really play played fine there was the odd game like turok which stuttered in a couple of places, dunno if it was the game or low fps at those 2 points but it did and it kinda put me off. As for the £ I think like this its better off in my machine than in the tax mans pocket But yes this card will do me for a while now as I have no intentions to change for a while

Back to the original topic...
New drivers in August!
Just found this...
NVIDIA IS EXPECTED to release a WHQL'd Physx driver for a range of its graphics cards in August of this year.
This driver will support Physx acceleration on all support Geforce 8, 9 and newer 2xx series cards, after being received a Microsoft WHQL certificate.
The new Forceware driver is expanding Physx support to all currently available PhysX titles on the market, including Cell Factor, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, and Warmonger.
Unreal Tournament 3 is expected to come with a Physx mod.
We can't get too excited about the availability of Physx drivers until more games support the physics API - hopefully of DAAMIT fanboys continue to progress with Physx drivers, we'll see a decent influx of support.
