We all know that the game has slipped from favorer. OK that happened within a month or two of it's release. EA has finally given up on the game and killed off it's authentication servers. That means even if you wanted to play on line you can't!
WTF! kill off the server but patch the game first do people can play online if they want. It's only a four year old game, flawed but still fun to play. The biggest gripe at the time was it was so poorly coded that you needed a monster PC to run it. Well it's four years later and, you've guessed it we all now have monster rigs... Well 2004 spec they are monsters!
A couple of months ago I reinstalled MoH:PA after a PC rebuild. Just to see how the new PC handled a game I last played years before. One that ran like stop frame animation of the PC I had at the time. Well it looked great! I ran through the single player over a weekend and had a great laugh. I figured out what my login was for online play and found a server. True there weren't too many to chose from with players but I still had a blast.
IF EA want to stop supporting the game then that's fine, but at least release a patch that can allow the handful of people still playing the game to continue...

Well the servers are back on now. Looks like EA have had second thoughts.
As for the game it's good, well OK. The single player is very good. The Mulitplayer is OK, they have patched it to the point where the game play is OK.
A couple of things killed the game. First off it required a powerful PC to run it. More powerful than the other big reason it died, and that was Counter Strike Source. EA took far too long to patch it properly.

I might re-install it too
it was one of the only games I was really really really waiting for, and I recall the day/night it came out (do you lot remember?)
some of us went out to the all night ASDA's to buy copies and we got online as soon as we could that night
I also remember Soulie trying to have a 'training' session in the early days of PA, and we all got bored quite quickly and started shooting each other at the rendevous point - quality!!

The Perl Harbour section is very intense, like being in a movie. My favorite thing in a single player game, I love it when you feel like your in a movie.
The rest is a little predictable, but still good. The big difference with PA was the behavior of the AI. The way that if you push the them too hard, they suicide charge. So at the point when you are at your weakest, low on ammo and health. There are half a dozen Jap's trying to introduce you to some cold steel!
The ending is good, if you know about the conflict then you have an idea of what it was like. When you finish the game you feel relieved. A strange feeling at the end of a game, but one that rings true to the real world events.
As a single player game is good, the MP game is flawed, but the game is still better than Airborne.

Looks like I've got another MOH to go through again.
Did they ever sort the 'Airborne' problems out with servers?, if so I may have to take up that also.

I only ever played MOH in single player mode so never experienced the online version of it.
As for them killing the game off its a piss take especially when you think games like counterstrike is still running fine after 8+ years.

Valve are probably the best at looking after their customers, of all the game makers. It's a shame that there games aren't any better. I love the single player but the MP game although probably the purest, some what lacking. Knowing valve, in a couple of years they will probably up date them again. The have just finished a major overhaul of Day of Defeat source, not bad for a three/four year old game...
