hi pen
you sure its gone and not stuck or your login credentials are just messed up , ??
I take it you have tried re typing pword again , i know that sounds basic but i have auto login on , and you miss the basics sometimes
also like cod4 , if you have crashed or logged in a funny way , it can sometimes lock you out , and have to wait for up to 30 mins before you can log back in ,
other than that i would re-install again , or gimme a shout i get you a log in key off 1 of the kent lads who does not play anymore ,
Del

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. I made sure that I went through the game registration again. After it was patched the game ran OK.
I'm coming across a couple of issues running older games on my PC. First off I'm running Vista, it's a bit of a heavy weight but shouldn't be causing me too many problems. The Biggie is the duel core CPU. Mine is about as slow as you can get, together they add up to an OK'ish CPU. With modern games it dose OK. Thing is old games can only use one core. BF:2 is one of those games. With BF:2 using just half of my CPU, it turns out that half of my CPU is less powerful than the single core AMD that's now sitting in my wife's pooter!
With BF:2 the graphics look fooking amazing, nice high fps. Get in to a game and when in the think of he action I'm laggin like crap. There is no network problems, the graphics card is bearly warm. The CPU is going crazy! One core is chugging along 25-50% the other is full on 100%!!! Back off some of the post processing (lighting affects in BF:2) And it's all running just fine.
It is a bit of a pisser to have to run the game at lower settings than my old PC. I really do need a faster CPU, overclocking is cheap but it has it's limits!

But Del, you know me I like my eye candy...
Lets how BF:3 dosn't have that issue. No way a game should give you a game play advantage by lowering your settings...

I've had the invalid cd key thing in the past but its usually caused by their servers screwing up. As for the details I agree turn everything up full and play it the way the designers made it to be played As for overclocking don't do it just by something fast in the first place
