AVG Free has gone rogue and can't be recommended. They now collect your browser history and sell it, so AVG Free is off the happy list. Panda Free is very good and what I use these days. Malwarebytes is probably the best anti-malware program. I run it a couple of times a month. For adblock I use uBlock. I also use a small program called FileHippo App Manager. It checks to see if the software on your PC us upto date. So you don't end up with outdated versions of Flash and Java on your system. This is important because out of date software is often a vector for viruses and malware. When setting up a new system can I recommend ninite.com It's a bulk software installer. Put a tick in the box next to the software you want and it runs an installer and installs the lot for you.
Unless you are going to go all paranoid, full on pip on us consider using the microsoft account in Windows 10. It unlocks a great many features in Windows. Linking Windows with the Microsoft services. OneDrive is good, OneNote is very useful. Skype is skype and should need no introduction. Many of the Windows apps from the store are really useful. Office 365 is uber powerful, although I'm not sure I can justify it for me personally. I got a years subscription free with a Windows tablet but apart from OneNote and Outlook I can't say I have had much use for a full office package. However for you it might make sense to get the family pack so everyone in the household can use it across all of their devices.

Yeah. Agree with Pen on AVG. As everyone knows my main gripe with the internet companies is their arrogance in thinking they can use my personal info without my permission. AVG have opted to announce that this is exactly what they intend to do so they can feck off as far as I am concerned. I have uninstalled it and just going with Windows Defender for the moment. Also heard what Pen' said, that best free AV now is Panda. Just haven't got around to installing it yet.

Shit Pip that's want the internet is for, collecting personnel data and porn of course. How on earth can you expect companies to sell you crap you don't need if you don't let them know all your dirty secrets. Just think some nosey bastard in GCHQ, AVG and google (other data gathering companies are available) is still trying to figure out whether we are going to a site which is full of pictures of nakedness. I expect like me they are confused as well, I mean is it chicks with dicks or men with tits, obviously one ain't right the other is OK.
On the subject of security you could open a Barclays current account and get Kaspersky for free.
Also as mentioned by Pen in another post change to Open DNS and certain don't use google (8.8.8.8) as your dns as they started to collect data about 6 months ago for all web sites all users visit.

I'm testing out Avira Anti-Virus at the moment, it came out as the best free AV in a recent test.
