Steam has been available for some time on Linux, there is a growing list of Linux compatible games. Not everything, well not until now. Windows only games are now playable on Linux, right now the list is short but in the very near future everything will be available.
I have been running Windows for a while now because there were games I played with you guys that had to have Windows to work. There will still be games that will require Windows. Non-Steam games like Battlefield and Rainbow6:Siege will not work of course but if it's on Steam I should be able to run it on Linux.
Some point over the next week or so I'll be making the swap to Linux and ditching Windows for good.

There are currently over 2250 native Linux games on Steam but soon it will be all but a handful. This is massive news for PC gamers, you are no longer restricted to just Windows.
There are many people that have a hatred of Windows, especially Windows 10. Windows 7 refuseniks attempting to ignore the 2020 end of life. Those that are having hardware issues with 10.
There is evidence that MS will make Windows a subscription. At which point even more people will want to move to a different platform. Imagin Ghostie being happy with paying MS for Windows???
There is also evidence that MS want the gaming experience on Windows to be like the XBox, with a monthly subscription and games only available from the store. The whole reason Valves is currently pumping millions into making Linux a serious alternative.
Just about the only big deal breaker for Linux adoption is Adobe, MS Office runs really well on Linux. Adobe is the last piece of the puzzle for a like for like workflow. Give it time... I'm sure they will come to the light side soon enough.
