The trusty 8800GT 512Mb G/Card is about to become cheap! The 8800GT is the defacto gamers graphics card. When the 9 Thousand series came out the trusty 8800GT dropped to a more reasonable price. In the very near future the next-gen GTX280 cards will be out in the wild. When this happens we can see the 8800GT becoming very affordable. What makes the 8800GT 512 card so important is because it is more than fast enough for the current crop of games. One of these 8800GT's with a reasonable CPU will see you playing CoD:4 at proper screen rez at max eye candy getting +100fps! In other words it all the G/Card you need. (just make sure it's one of the 512MB ones) They are just over one hundred quid at the mo, We could see them somewhere around the £60 mark. www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-88GT5 £106.93 inc vat

The thing about the 8800GT 512 is more than enough for all but most demanding of gamers.

You would see an improvement, Tom's Hardware's VGA comparison chart says it should see over a doubling in performance in BF:2 It says that your 7950GT should be getting around 40FPS but the 8800GT should get 90FPS It's important to get the right card, it's very confusing. For instance the 8800GT 320MB is no faster than your card, well just a little bit, but hardly noticeable. Some time back nVidia changed there manufacturing process. They made the chip smaller, this made the card faster. The way to tell the old from the new is the amount of RAM. The old ones had 320MB and 768MB. The new ones have 256MB and 512MB The old card is sometimes referred to as G80 and the newer cards are referred to as G90 You want to get hold of one with 512MB. £106.93 inc vat www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-88GT5This is mine, and a little more expensive and a bit faster It can be found for around £160 - £180 Notice that the GTS s a double width card. Blooming huge it is. LOL I just need a second one to SLI my rig

I don't think everyone will be rushing for the new cards the 280 is priced at £330 and the 260 at £210. These are dollar to pound conversion prices so they could be higher.

Top of the range stuff always comes out in that rice range if not higher. It's the price of the bleeding edge! The 8800 Ultra's cost that much, in fact each of the Next Gen stuff has come in at that price. I spent £300 2 years ago on a BFG 7900GT OC. It's the fact that the 8800GT 512 offers such good value for money. For most of us it's as fast as you need for only a hundred quid. It's a real bargain! I have a review of the new stuff on my blog pendr4gon.blogspot.com/

i currently have a BFG 8800gt OC1, had it since December and loved it ever since, but when i look at the other 8800gts coming out now mine looks poop, my im gonna g for 3870 Crossfire, i can get 4 with my k9a2 platinum =]
But still since its coming down in price and along with updated drivers, its the best price to performance(sorta) ratio!

It's always the way, you get the best you can afford at the time. A few months later some thing new comes out a spoles it for you. A lot of the games these days require a fas CPU and RAM. It's a balence thing, but in the end it's down to getting the best you can afford on the day.
