This looks fabulous. My first impression = What I really wanted Battlefield 2 to evolve in to.

No camping promise ;D
The movement is so much smoother than older ArmA games, much more like a regular shooter. There are quite a few extra things going on that can feel a little off. There is a bit of a learning curve but nothing insurmountable. It's like that have brought the power of a full infantry simulator a huge step closer to arcade shooters like BF3 without losing any of simulation. So it's smooth and fluid without the clunk of old school ArmA. It's still not BF:3 but that feels like a cartoon world with scripted animations (knife kill?)
So if all you want to do is jump in and shoot some shit that just fine. If you want to specialise there is the depth of game play to do that too.
A lot of engagements are at distance, not up close and personal like an arcade shooter. Mind you when you are up close because of the smooth shooter feel you can still do that type of thing and it feel more exciting because of it.
Guys don't forget that right now this game is only £19.99 on Steam.

Have to say it does look a lot better and runs very smoothly on my system with very high settings. Well worth the £19 when things are only going to get better.

it does look good, loads of atmosphere
I do think its OK after playing it for a bit now, however here is the but
But, its a bit of a pain that you get shot and have NO idea where from! the AI is WAY too accurate hope they fix this
The team play is going to be the thing tho, just like we used to in Joint Ops
I keep reminding myself its not the 'final' game so it should improve, shouldn't it?

I'm sure that there will be massive improvements. So far the Alpha is only about 20% of the whole game. I wouldn't imagine that there will be much improvement to the "look" I get the feeling that that it is just about as good looking as it's going to get. The engine is set now, but they still have lots to do. All of the rest of the game has to be added. Then it's all about tweaking, things like the AI and bug squashing to be done.
I have given up on the idea of suggesting what game the clan should play as "main game". I will always play whatever that is on a Sunday night. All I will say is this is going to be the game I play for most of the rest of the time. If you want to play it too then it will more fun to play it together.

Does it play like Arma as in you always start from zero and get killed a lot. Is it only Smoggie and myself who haven't got this now

How it play's is all dependant on the mission. Most often we play against bot's. In this regard it's much more like Joint Ops the game we used to play years ago. A bit like a single-player with your friends. There are pvp missions but they are often better suited to much larger groups.
As for who has the game I think it's enn, Smoggie and yourself don't have the game at this point.
However much I would love to see you all playing it I'm more than aware that it's not for everyone. I see BF3 as being the clans' main game but away from the more traditional clan weekend evenings you will find some of us playing this.

Well I'm really getting back into ARMA (couldn't do camping) but have taken to try my hand at mission creation, I think Hue would enjoy this as it is probably more akin to the video production you do as it's almost like managing a project "Beginning Middle and End" the editor isn't too technical and even I have managed to figure out how to have players respawn , we can have multiple respawn areas too, think I have also sussed how to enable an "Air Taxi" you would be able to summon a helicopter taxi to a point on the map to take you closer to the battle, artillery airstrike etc (once they are in the main game only mortars at the minute
